Greetings Fellow RVrs--
I have a 2006 Allegro Bay and am happy with it but last month on a trip while going about seventy, all of the sudden, the digital message box on the speedometer cluster said REDUCING ENGINE POWER, and the engine was back to an idle as I coasted off to the sholder to a stop. The engine light immediately came on. I tried to get acceleration by pressing on the accelerator, but to no avail. The engine would only idle no matter what I did. I shut her down, then started her back up and I could accelerate again but the check engine light remained on. The next day, the check engine light was off. Then while on the road again going about sixty, it happened again. And a few days later, again on IH10. Back home, I took it to my local repair shop in Boerne, TX. They "could not duplicate" of course, so they replaced the fuel pump and filter and told me probably my dirty filter and pump was causing the problem. Yesterday, while on my way back at night from a weekend trip, it happened again. Has anyone ever experienced the "REDUCING ENGINE POWER" message?

Welcome to iRV2.com!
I'm surprised they found no codes. You could try installing a ScanGauge ( ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool) and see if you can determine what the EEC is seeing.
Hopefully some other Workhorse owners have experienced something similar and will respond.
Good Luck, and again Welcome!

What was the DTC code? Surely the shop scanned it for stored codes before they went to work on it...?

[QUOTE=JonBrazel;545746]What was the DTC code? Surely the shop scanned it for stored codes before they went to work on it...?QUOTE]
The first shop I took it to, Lester Automotive Center in Boerne, TX, is not an approved Workhorse Service Center. Yesterday while I was on my way to take it to the Workhorse Service Center, Ancira RV in Boerne, the check engine light was on, so I called Lester's and the owner told me to bring it in and they would plug in their computer and check for codes. So I pulled up and the owner got his man on it right away. He proceeded to look for the port under the dash. He called another guy to help him look and then a third but none could find where the plug in port was. In the mean time, I called Workhorse to ask them but was put on hold and so I left a message for them to call the shop. I left with a friend to run an errand and when I returned they were parking my coach. They driver said Workhorse never called them back. I thanked the driver, got in and drove her down the frontage road to Ancira RV. To my surprise, they immediately got their tech on it who found the port, and was able to get four different codes. He said when they get that many codes, it usually means a connector has come apart or a wire is grounding out against the frame.
To be continued...

You should still be covered under your new vehicle warranty as well.
