Stopped by Harborson Swanson today to talk to them about replacing my calipers under the recall. I mentioned to them that I had a rotor that was needing turned and what the cost would be when they did the recall. He showed me a price of $1500. He said that would include all new seals and pads and new rotors. I said that I only have 22000 miles on the rig and I didn't think it needed all of that. In fact when I last looked at the pads about 2500 miles ago they looked to be hardly worn. Then he said it would be just as much to just turn the rotors . I am thinking why the hell spend that much money if I don't need to. I beleive I will just have them puts the calipers on and that is it. I understand the recall comes with brake fluid. Anyway I bleed the brakes about 1500 miles ago with three quarts of fluid and it should be good to go right now. If the rotors are bad it would be because of the three times they locked up and overheated.
Am I thinking straight, I have no leaks and if there are still lots of life in the pads why replace them. I do notice a little amount of pulsing when stopping but not bad enought to spend $1500 to correct.

If my dealer quoted me $1500 to turn one rotor I might be looking for another dealer.

Your call,......

Sounds like he is quoting the package deal that is being offered by Workhorse for those needing new rotors and pads and not just turning one rotor. You may want to contact him again to make sure you are both on the same page.

darbyjudy, You're thinking is NOT flawed. $1500 is the going rate for all new brake parts out the door. If you have a 2001 to 2004 chassis I might think about it. If you have a later MH just buy what you need. If you have an 08 or newer grab the calipers and go.

One thing though you can spend the money now to start from this point forward with all new brakes or you may have to spend "more" later if it comes to it. Some people paid that much for service on a single axle regrettably.

If you have a pulsing in the brake pedal you need to resolve that. For example, I would not want to run brand new calipers with a bad rotor.

I don't buy the argument that you're going to spend 1500 for 1 rotor either. I'd book out and go find someone else that needs the work. Call Golby Motors or ABC Bus in Orlando.

OTOH, You certainly are not compelled to spend anything - just grab the calipers and you're outta there.

That sounds like the shop wants to turn all 4. Still seems high to me.

I have the W22 chassis and just had my recall done. Thought for sure that I would need rotors (at least turned) and brake pads since I have almost 44K on it. I figured $1500.00 from all the posts I had seen, my dealer shocked me when he told me everything was good and that the brake pads were in very good condition.
