Would like to have synthetic oil in my engine but I have been warned I may get leaks. I have 21000 miles (5500 in past two months).

Opinions please.

8.1 Vortec engine

I say the leaker theory doesn't hold water. Go for the synthetic oil!

I transitioned at 15,000 miles. You're good to go!

I switched over to synthetic oil (Mobil 1) with about 20,000 miles. No problems with any leaks.

I switched to Mobil 1 at 5,ooo miles and have had no leaks. I change at 5k as well and have to add less than a quart between changes. The last time I sent in a sample the report said the oil could have been used longer before deterioration.
