Replacement of front Stabilizer bar for 2003 W22

Hey Guys, This is Jerry Newberry. I'm the guy that explained the brake recall at the Greenville Ohio rally last year. Driver I talked with you at the Bounder rally in Urbanna. My chassis is a 2003 model. Last week I noticed my 2 inch front stabilizer bar had a serious crack down the middle. In doing some searches I found that a larger 2 1/2 inch bar is offered W0005643. I called a Workhorse repair center and they wanted $300+ for the kit even though their web site shows it for $165.00.
Have any of you found this anywhere for a better price?

peskyfeller, Thanks for writing. How have you been? I'm hoping you can call around to a few more centers in your area and get some more prices. I do remember changing mine winter/spring 2005. Have you called Brazels or Redlands just to compare prices? I'm sure that there aren't going to be many centers with one on the shelf. I'm also wondering if they might be rolling in shipping into the price of the bar ???

I know it'll bolt right up. The 2 1/2" bar comes with new caps.

I got mine from an RV dealer that ordered for me. Cost was about $140 plus shipping. That was about 5 years ago though. Cost me another $25 to rent a 500 ft pound torque wrench for the required 275 ft pounds.
Below is an email I got from WH back then,

"I agree that the "W Chassis" has a great ride! The sway bar is definitely
available separately, however, there is no special pricing for this part.
The part number for the Front Stabilizer Bar with Brackets is: W0005643.

This bar was found to have an advantage over the original 2" bar, and was
put into regular production on 9/2/2003.

The installation is very straightforward. Remove 4 retaining nuts while
supporting bar, remove bar, hold new bar in position, reinstall 4 retaining
nuts, and torque to specification (275 ft pounds). This procedure is NOT meant to replace the service manual, but is a generalized procedure.

The upgraded stabilizer bar has been shown to provide the following
benefits:
1. Reduced Body Roll when cornering.
2. Reduced "rocking" when passed by or passing large vehicles.
3. Reduced "rocking" when traversing bumps on an angle.

Unfortunately, I am unable (due to contract law) to sell these parts
directly to anyone other that an authorized Workhorse Dealer. Please take
the part number supplied above, and contact your local dealer for pricing or
to order the part. If you are unsure where or who your local dealer is, you
may visit PRODUCTS and click on "RV", then click on "find a
dealer". Or you may contact or Customer assistance at 877-946-7731.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Thank you,"

Hey Driver, We are doing quite well thanks. Listen, would you happen to have Eric's number? I spent some time with him and received a great thank you from him for helping the seminar. Unfortunately I can't find the card for him or Alan. If you have the numbers PM them to me please: peskyfeller@earthlink.net. Our Bounder group is now over 3800. Can you believe it? Thanks for the help and all you do. Jerry Newberry
