Hello I am new member, i hope someone can tell me how to replace the instrument cluster on a 2003 winnebago brave, model 32 v, The dash lifts up but i still cannot see how it is attached, does the dash have to come off. Thanks in advance, i know many people have had this problem.
The acta cluster has quit, I have talked to Actia can get a new one but need to send old one to them first, I need advice on how to remove the old one, The dash raises but i can,t see the screw heads from bottom I wonder if i have to remove the outer portion of the dash and remove it from the top, this looks like quiet job. Hope someone out there knows and can give me advice. Thanks in advance

John this post will have the dash disassembled that may help you, also within this thread are instructions on how to order a new one yourself from Actia Corp.

Dan, a member on here had the same problem on his Winnebago a few months back... Send a PM to mrsr71 and he might be able to tell you how he took his cluster out....

I want to thank everyone for their response. I believe i will have to face the fact that the dash will have to come off to access the screws. Still waiting to hear from Lichtsinn motors ser. dep. about how to do this. Again thanks and Merry Christmas to all. john5

Hi John, by now you have probably found out that the 2003's are the worst possible for replacing these clusters. The dash is essentially built around the cluster after the cluster is installed. I just paid a workhorse authorized dealer $250 to do the r&r with a cluster I had already obtained from Actia. Unless you have a day to toss away, and a lot of patience, I'd suggest you pay to have the job done for you.....

Thanks sgtstriker and driver, I finally got up the nerve to remove the cluster myself, could not find anyone here who wanted to do it. it was not terribly difficult to remove, installing new one could be a different story, Actia was supposed to ship refurbished one today, hopefully should have it friday. If anyone has the same problem and would like to contact me feel free to do so. Again thanks to this forum and to those who responded.

Hopefully your all done with this by now ; but just in case your not and for others in need they sent my dealer a defective one. They had to remove the replacement one and send it back and wait on another. Fortunately the second one was ok. Labor was no fun for them!!!!!

I have been reading all the comments about changing the dash cluster on a 2003 BRAVE AND I SAY BULL!! I changed mine out recently and found that it was not that big a deal... You do have to loosen up the faceplate on the dash. It requires a tool to release the radio from the panel but the rest is easy. If you look at the faceplate you can see the items that are attached from the back and the ones that the cover is covering. First you have to take the radio out. This requires the horseshoe type release tools to remove. After that you simply have to identify the items that need removed. The cigarette lighter needs to be removed. The bottom panel next to it has 2 nuts on the back and it slips out without taking all the wires loose. DONT WORRY ABOUT THE BACK UP MONITOR... on the left side of the steering wheel the hydraulic levelers panel has 4 screws in the front that loosens this and slide it through the hole. The overdrive panel also has 2 nuts on the back to remove it through the hole. Now the front face panel is loose enough to reach through to the screws to remove the panel. I think I needed an offset screwdriver to get to one of the screws. If you need further help...email me at charlesdsmith02@msn.com and I will be happy to share my findings...

You may be able to get it done ..... For free.
There is, as I recall a TSB on that dash, I assume you are on a Workhorse chassis, check with a Workhorse authorised service center, feed them your VIN, they may be willing to do it for you.

The recall only involves a re-flash of the software to correct a problem in reading the correct input from a sensor on the master cylinder. The fault if you will was dissimilar language.
