Huh, I see where Rexhall in not offering motorhomes on the Ford chassis. Rexhalls have been built exclusively on Workhorse chassis for a couple of years now. What’s that tell you?

Full-Timers: Sorry, but you've got me a little confused. Apparently, like you, I'm under the impression that Rexhall builds ONLY on the Workhorse UFO and R-series chassis. HOWEVER, your link goes to a page that shows two floorplans and it seems to show they "include Ford gas xxxxx gvwr chassis". I can't explain or understand that, do you?
THanks, ED

It could well mean that Rexhall still has Ford chassis in inventory and that henceforth they will build new orders on the Workhorse. In the past, they have had loads of chassis sitting outside the factory in the Lancaster desert air..some of them for years. Just a guess but it fits with my past experience with the Rex family. They have always had some of the most innovative floorplans and features but their inventory control and qc have sometimes been suspect.

While I was at the 2009 RVIA Show this year Monaco RV LLC a Navistar Company was only showing gasoline powered motorhomes on Ford Chassis.
Reason being is that they had a number in inventory to build on. Going forward perhaps we might see more Workhorse front gas but I'm thinking the front diesel might make a go at it in the 20,500-22K weight range using a W20D OR W22D.
We still haven't read about a definite gasoline replacement engine for the 8.1L Vortec and I for one am eager to find out what direction the company will go in regards to gas powered chassis products.
I do think that the MaxxForce 7 and an Allison 6 Speed will be a good powertrain combination in the right weight motorhome.

It probably all comes down to what kind of deal the chassis manufacturers give Rexhall but I am wondering with all the bad rap Workhorse is getting that Rexhall is covering their butt.

If you are referring to the RVIA Show in Louisville, KY, I was there and there were several Workhorse equipped motorhomes from Winnebago and Fleetwood and others. There were a lot more Fords but I expected that. It not all that remarkable. For the most part the % of Workhorse on display was typically less due to manufacturers building product that can be priced competitively when it gets on someone's floor plan. I ordered both of my Workhorse motorhomes and they came direct from Winnebago.
