Scan Gauge II Help

I know I should probably read the book but..... I've had a Scan Gauge II for maybe 6 months. I know how to check if there are any codes and how to reset them. I see four gauges that are programed into my unit and three of them are pretty self explanatory. MPG/RPM's and I'd assume the volts are what the alternator is putting out. The fourth gauge display "LF" and in the pic below you'll see it was 95.60. What is LF? RPM's and MPG are nice but I suspect the device is able to show more important info. I'd be more interested in transmission temp (05 W24 chassis), coolant temp and maybe fuel pressure. Below is a picture of my gauge at about 65 mph a few days ago. What do most folks display? What is the "LF"? Are the things I'd like to see possible? Thanks

Well Bob, you really need to "Dig into the weeds" to see the entire items available. The "LF" code is long term fuel trim, however it should also indicate 1 of four fuel banks. I monitor, water temp, transmission temp, average mpg and fuel used.

I would also suggest reviewing the web site.ScanGauge - Trip Computer + Digitial Gauges + ScanTools

Hope this helps.

It is actually "OLF" and it is showing you the % of oil Life remaining since the last oil change RESET. Since yours is showing 95.6, I'd say someone reset the system recently.

X2
Took me awhile to figure out what OLF meant. It is in the GM Specific XGauge codes.

Thanks Ed. I changed the oil recently and reset it. So that's another gauge that has little value to me. I need to find the time and motivation to figure out how to display the info that is of more value to me. Fred says he monitors water temp and transmission temp. I'd like to get those two, keep the volts and find one more that would be of value.

Suggest you scroll thru the existing menu AND use the link to the "X gauges" provided above, but be aware that the SG II does NOT provide the TFT (Tranny Fluid TEMP) if you have the 6 speed Allison.

I've got the 5 speed Allison. I've even started reading the manual.

There is so much you can monitor once you figure it out. I monitor oil pressure, water temp, transmission temp and volts with the ScanGuage II. I use the Actia display to monitor outside ambient temp.

Thanks Aldev, I purchased by unit from Oemy and should have checked his website for help. I think I was told that Oemy pre-programs for the 8.1 so hopefully the X-Gauge feature for the Allison is already programed.

If you bought it from me then it is programed with all available Xgauges. Remember no sensor - no gauge.

I did purchase it from you Dale and thank you, the Xgauge for transmission temp was there and is working. A couple of minutes reviewing the manual and I'm now displaying fuel pressure, tranny temp, coolant temp and volts. The fuel pressure gauge didn't work at first but it appears OK now. I think I'm good to go. We just went up the east coast and will be heading west in a couple of weeks. I wanted to get the scan gauge set up before the trip across country. Thanks to All
