Ron, It's pretty durned fair. The source for the MPG is the ECM and what you get from the IP Avg MPG is the same source for the SG MPG.

Then does that mean when it was reading 9.1 mpg, that was what I was getting at that moment?

Ron

Ron, On a vehicle of your size and weight, it's not all that uncommon to see low 9s as an MPG value.

Thanks Mike,.

That 9.1 was driving on flat roads at 58 mph and it dropped to the mid and low 8's driving at 63 mph.

I wish I had observed the mileage before brain transplant but I was fixated on WT temp Now I won't know until our upcoming long trip.

On previous long trips I have averaged from the mid 7's to the high 8"s

Ron

There are three mpg readings available on the Scangauge.
Average - which is an average calculated every few seconds.
Cumulative average - the calculation is for a much longer period of time - maybe the last 50 miles or so?
Tank or maybe trip average - This number is pretty close to what I get when I calculate the mileage for a tank of gas. Of course that number will vary some depending on how level you are when you fill the tank. The gallons used display is usually within a gallor or so of the actual gas added at a fill up.

The calculated lifetime average for mine pulling a Honda Accord 36,000 miles is 6.9 mpg. This includes trips all over the country and several runs over the Rockies.

Thanks Clay L,

I'm still stumbling through the menu system and haven't decided what combination of things I want to be monitoring. WT and MPG are the main things I want to monitor but I'm having a hard time getting the right combination

I have mine set to display Volts, MPH, Coolant temp, and Ave (instantaneous) MPG.
When I get my Scangauge upgraded to the x-gauge feature. I will substitute cumulative MPG for Ave MPG and Transmission temp for the Volts. I have the 5 speed Allison and understand the transmission temp is available.

the sc2 x gauge feature for allison temperature, tft, works fine on my moho. i monitor trans temp and water temp all the time. i monitor mph, rpm, engine loading, volts, and mpg sometimes. it is so easy to change that i change it often.
my allison ran from 137 degrees to 142 degrees before i changed the fluid to AMSOIL synthetic. the water temp runs from 197 degrees to 202 degrees.
you can find the x gauge parameters for allison transmission temperature to input into the sc2 in a pdf file on the sc2 website.
i wish there was an x gauge for engine oil pressure for my moho.

I sure wish mine ran at that temperature.

Looks like I'm stuck at 207 to 211 at which temp the big fan comes on.
