I messed up. I lost the gas cap on my 2001 Gas Dutch Star on a W22 Chassis. It is a model 3666 that has the fill pipe on the rear wall near the ladder. I have tried several auto parts stores and even bought every model that Wal-Mart had and so far cannot find one that fits. I am hoping that someone with a 2001 coach on a W22 Chassis would look at the numbers on their gas cap and give them to me. I feel that I could then cross them to something that would fit. I appreciate any and all responses. Thank you.

What were the results at the parts counter of your Newmar dealer? They should be able to get you a new cap or at least the correct cross reference.

You can contact Newmar customer service via the link below:

Visit your local auto parts store, Pep Boys, Auto Zone, NAPA or the auto store of your choice

Tell them you have a Chevy Silverado.

Same gas cap

We have the 02 chassis, replaced the orig. cap with a locking cap that fits Chev light truck. Looked at the orig. that am carrying for a spare and it has no #'s on it. Good luck. Richard

Would this cap also properly fit a 2005 W20? Workhorse wants $53 for a locking gas cap...

Bought our locking cap at Auto Zone a couple of years ago around 9 or 10 $ I think. Richard

Would a Silverado cap fit on a 2005 W-20?

Do not know, as I said, in my case I was speaking to someone who had a Silverado and a Workhorse W-22 (Same model year) However there are only a few gas caps. There is a guy at my local auto-zone you tell him the ride, he hands you the cap. Meanwhile the other workers look it up on the computer and they are wrong.

I very much suspect it will work just fine.

Side note: Spoke with someone from Workhorse today on another matter completly. Happened to mention the gas cap, Said "38" not the 56 that someone up-thread posted for a locking gas cap.

He was very surprised it's that much

Also, agreed on the Silverado, 8.1 as a replacement.

Hello John-D;

It was me that posted the $53 for the Workhorse gas cap. I called my local dealer twice and spoke to two different people. Unfortunately, both quoted me the same price. I'd gladly buy one at $38 even though Stant locking gas caps (not for motorhomes) can be bought at Walmart for $12.

Maybe it's due to the cost of shipping; gasoline as of today where I live is $3.48 per gallon for regular unleaded!

I don't know Sometimes I think it's the dealer you order from. I visited my authorized Workhorse service center as my rig has the fuel clip recall and it's time for an oil change (They are very reasonable on oil there)

They said it would take them two weeks to get the clip

I came home, made a phone call and a few hours later had it in my hand. Now for the appointment so they can clip it in.

On, it is a standard part that any Chevy dealer (including the one referenced above) should hav ein stock, the Recall was GM not Workhorse

Thanks all for your responses.

I went to two auto parts dealers and told them that I had a 2001 Silvarado with 8.1 Liter engine. Both tried to sell me a Stant cap which I had already tried from Wal-Mart. I am beginning to believe that even though the VIN number indicates that my chassis is a 2001, the fuel tank or the pipe that Newmar used to connect to it are an earlier or different model.

I will have to find someone with the same model coach and either get a number or a picture of his gas cap. Thanks again all for your responses.
