Hello again. Should the OD and the D on the shift lever mean something? It seems that I have a stopping point in between them, but that there is not a stop for each. In other words, I was expecting to be able to lock out OD, by just putting it into D while towing a trailer. As it has become a little clearer to me from using it, it seems as though the shift lever does not stop at D, but goes right from N to OD to 2 to 1. Is this normal or do I have a linkage issue?

Thanks.

Sounds like you'll soon be needing a new transmission shift cable. If your shifter is beginning to take more effort to move it is binding in the area closest to the engine heat. Lubing it will not cure it as there is a nylon wrap upon the cable within that is bunching and binding. I have disassembled my cable and removed the offending nylon wrap, lubed it with high temperature grease and reswaged it back together. It shifts easier than when new and the repair now has twice the breakdown mileage on it. I chose to do it this way as replacement cables are only available with the same nylon component. Some will find that rerouting and shielding a new cable will suffice. Rerouting a cable with symptoms does not work as the nylon is already bunching and only gets worse. Good luck!!

There is no difficulty moving the lever. There just does not seem to be a stop for OD, D, 2, 1.

It goes from N to OD, to 2 to 1. Seems like there should be a stop for D and there isn't.

Any additional thoughts on this?

Thanks.

My '01 HR Admiral doesn't have an option for OD. All I have on the stick is D, 3, 2, and 1. It's the consensus of this board that Monaco didn't install the dash switch option. I have the diagrams from Allison and I think I've seen the wire leads under the dash, but I haven't bothered.
Monaco says my unit doesn't need the OD switch.

You might post your question in the Monaco Owners forum as there may be others with an '04 Admiral like yours.

Thanks Abarkl.

I posted the note over at the Monaco forum, but don't seem to be getting much response on it there yet. I am still not clear if something is broken or if this is normal. I have heard of folks referring to the "fake D", but not sure if this is what they meant.

Thanks.

I noticed. There seems to be quite a click developing over there recently and any strangers are looked over.

You might call Monaco Tech Support; www.HolidayRambler.com
