It has been some time since I checked the forum and I know the subject of shocks for the W22 has been visited many times in the past however can I get a recommendation for shocks for my 02 Itasca 35U on the W22 chassis...thanks for your input.

The single most popular "aftermarket" shock absorber here for the W-Series is the Koni FSD shock. You can obtain these from our sponsors, Redlands or Brazels RV Performance Centers.

I installed four "Monroe Gas Magnums" and have been very happy with my decision, it was a good upgrade for the money.

Gregg, Just wanted to get you ready for this eventuality - I installed 4 Monroe RV Magnums on my rig and I completely wore those out within 30,000 miles to the point where they became ineffective.

Your experience may vary.

I suspect you are correct Driver, however at the time the Monroes were a good bang for the buck.
When they go south I'll dig deep into my pockets and purchase the Koni's.
I just wanted to offer Gordo a less expensive option.

I have the blistens and they have worked well for me and I understand they are cheaper. My view is based on my ride and nothing else!

jdsr, There's nothing cheap about a Bilstein Shock Absorbers since they were chosen to be OE on all Workhorse Chassis for a long time now. You most likely are alluding to the fact that the Bilsteins are less expensive and that's true.

In the aftermarket Koni FSD shock absorbers have been quite successful on the W-Series and are competitively priced given A to B comparisons by owners that have replaced their OE shocks due to what is perceived by them as a need to move into a better performing product.

I have not had the experience of running Bilsteins however quite a few owners here have.

Smart move Lued! With only 28K miles on my MH (factory Bilsteins) the banging was too much to take. It was harsh and stiff from near new but getting worse by the trip. So on the front go a set of Koni FSD's last Friday-what a difference! In a little while the rears I'm certain. No more crash-bang! Pricey, but well worth it!

BTW anyone reading the recent article in Motorhome Magazine comparing Road King, Koni & Bilstein shocks probably noticed that (surprisingly) Bilstein came out the best. Hmmm. So I look up Motorhome mag's sister company's (Camping World) catalogue and guess what?? They do not sell Konis...but they do sell...that's right...Bilsteins. You don't think they're attempting to increase sales at Camping World by stretching the truth a bit do you?

It's a shame. Recently I've really enjoyed some of the articles in that magazine, but now I'm thinking of cancelling as it seems lately to have become just a sales brochure for CW.

IMO anyone thinking of a change dig deep & go for the Koni FSD's.

Bilsteins on DP may act differently than Gasser.
