Hi,
I run the engine every few weeks in the winter if we can't get on the road. I'd like to install a switch to the jacks down alarm bell. Can anyone point out where the bell is mounted, I can't find it.
Thanks.

On my MH the jack pump and reservoir are in the front of the engine, under the hood. My 'jacks down' buzzer was driving crazy at times and I never could find where it was to unplug it. However, on top the oil reservoir for the jacks is 2 wires that plug in about 6" away. I unplugged it and no more more jacks down beeper/ buzzer , whatever it was. If yours is like mine, instead of unpluuging it you could cut and tap a longer wire into one of the wires, run it inside your cab to a switch and back to the other end. I may do this some day now that you brought attention to it.
Mine are "Powergear" jacks, so if yours are not , they may totally different. My jacks down alarm comes from the oil level in the tank, it is way to sensitive and even when the oil level goes down slightly just because it's a little cool out, the beeper will come on. BTW, my "jacks down" light was unaffected and still works.

On my MH, I don't have the option. If I turn the ignition on when the jacks are down they go into "Emergency Retract", aka "Dumb butt, you cant drive with these things down!"
I don't run the engine on a regular basis because I don't think prolonged idling is good. If you're going to exercise it, you should be out on the street, exercising not only the engine, but the transmission and the tires. Since I suspend the "over the road" part of our insurance at the end of October, I don't take it out until early April.

Magumba,
I pull fuse # F15, in the fuse panel, above the instrument cluster.
I have it marked with a piece of masking tape- just to the right of the blue 15 amp fuse.
Hope this helps you--
Good luck,

I the "Jacks down alarm" could be wired into the transmission controls and only activate when you engage the tranny then it would be good for guys like me who will forget that he turned it off.

Max, I don't have a panel that looks like that. That said the jack alarm is definitely in the house panel. It's not a Workhorse supported system.

In my 04 Aventurer, the fuse that is labeled step alarm kills the jacks alarm as well.

With my memory in my old age, I would hesitate to disconnect the jack down alarm on our motorhome even if I could find out how. Bent jacks are expensive I hear!!

Do you have power gear Hydraulic Jacks?
If so the alarm is part of the control panel, however the alarm SENSOR, is a float valve on the fluid tank for the jacks...
I am assuming the jacks are fully retracted and that in spite of this the alarm is still chiming... If this is the case there are two fixes.
One is to disconnect the sensor, there is a quick disconnect near where it is screwed into the top of the tank..
The better method is to add fluid.. the fluid specified on the tank or in the owner's manual.. bring it up about 1/2 the way from where it is now to the bottom of the filler tube.. NOTE: you will have to do that again next january.

Thanks for your help.
I should have mentioned in the original post that I have HWH jacks. I'll look into the fuse panel, but where is the bell modual?
Stay warm.

You should be able to roll up the dash. The bell is right there pretty much in front of you.
Turning the bell off now may save some grief for the moment. What could happen is that you might forget to turn it back on and that could be 4 new jacks waiting to happen.
