Before you toss money to fix a symptom make sure you are getting good air flow to the back 2 plugs on both sides. If you are in warranty check to see if you qualify for the Workhorse Air Flow Kit. If not in warranty you can do a DIY version with off the shelf parts.
Lastly a good set of Taylor Extreme Spark Plug Wires will help.

I believe Max has done this already as his post (and this thread) is almost a year old.

So, does anyone have a part no. and approximate cost for the P32 Chevrolet OEM filter? I guess I could change it out and use the old one for a spare. That's what I do with the fan belt, then you know you have something valid to match up to and only use it for that purpose, unless it's an emergency.

If you can't find the answer in your owner's manual, AND you have the 7.4L (L29) engine I think it is AC TYPE GF-626. The number may have changed over the years, but a competant parts counter guy will be able to cross-reference from this #. I think it should cost less than $10.00. When you get it home, if it does not look the same just return it. I believe you will find the FF located in the passenger side chassis rail forward of the rear axle.
If you have not ever change that puppy, it is time to Git-R-Done. ED

Actually, the OP was made by Max49 in January, 2007. As often happens, this one got new life because a new member re-opened it looking for help. And now the life cycle begins anew, we just can't seem to stop helping each other. That's what makes iRV2.com such a valuable resource, IMO. ED

Thanks for the info and the filter is in that location, but hard to see the specs.
My rig is one of the last chevy's with a worthless owners manual and even though the 99 workhorse is probably the same, I didn't want to trust it to chance.
I'll probably do as you say and just remove it. Then I'll have something in hand to go shopping with.

JDSR: I wouldn't worry about it at all. It happens all the time, and no harm-no foul. ED
