I am getting ready for a summer trip and decided to to test a new set of 41-101 Iridium spark plugs (replacement for the 41-993 that was a replacement for the 41-932). I was very surprised when I pulled the 932's as the looked almost new even though they had about 20,000 miles on them running the UltraPower upgrade.
Note - the dark oily looking stuff on the threads is "Never Seize".

Now when I compare these to some 41-983's (AC Delco and Denso) that I have replaced.

Agreed the above plugs had 78,000 miles on them. But, I have seen deposits like this on plugs in the 20, 000 to 30,000 range.

Did you replace them Dale? Sure looked good to replace but then once you pull them....decisions, decisions.

The spark plugs that came in your 8.1 should last close to 100K miles. The ones in the last picture are have burnt oil deposits on them.

I will change them. I want to see if there are any differences between Iridium and Platinum.

Yes.... but $6 a pop is cheap insurance. Also have you every pulled the plugs at 100k that were installed with out never seize. Not a fun job.
