I can almost guarantee that you will lose at lest one! I have changed many a sets and 99% of the time you will lose one unless they were pulled early and coated with dielectric grease.

Dale, "Even then" there aren't any guarantees that one won't break. Unlikely though ...

That said, if you give them a slight tug, they should stay in place on the plug. It has often been observed that a wire will be seen just hanging there and that's going to be a problem.

You may or may not notice one missing cylinder. We owned a 2001 Workhorse chassis with the 454 engine that was purchased new. It seemed to run ok, except on long upgrades where it felt like a driveline balance issue. We must have driven it a thousand miles before I pulled the engine cover and found the last cylinder spark plug wire laying on the exhaust manifold! After we replaced that wire we did see the mileage go up 1 or 2 mpg and no more driveline vibration. Never did get any check engine light.

Thats what I was thinking. Im not a mech and the miss would have to be pretty obvious for me to notice. I used to get 7-8 mpg and now get 5-6. I think I will have a shop look at it. Thanks for info

jdsr, Come up to the beach for a little R&R campout and I'll take a look at your wires for free. I'll let Oemy know what you need.
