Spark Plug Wires - Koolsox

I am preparing to buy a used coach on a W24 chassis and have been reading with interest the issue with spark plug wire. The current coach owner had this problem but it was corrected several years ago and he has not had a recurring problem.

I do a lot of engine mods on other cars and what I have used in the past when wires are close to headers is a product called "Koolsox". This is a fiberglass sleeve that covers the wire and boot to protect it from high manifold heat. Curious if anyone has tried this product on their 8.1 spark plugs wires?

Does your coach have the WH vent kit installed? I burnt the wires twice and WH installed under warranty. I have pictures of one side and there's a set on the other side.

I don't know about the socks you bought, but I picked up the ones available at O'Reilly's Auto Parts and also installed Taylor wire. In addition I added the UltraPower mod for more hp and a little better mpg's. Brazel's claims that UP helps reduce the burnt wire problem due to reduced manifold temps.

With all that said and done, I've gone nearly 60,000 mi without another burnt wire.

I had the Workhorse cool air kit installed on my W24 and the plugs/wires burned again. I would be interested in any solutions that people have found.

Maybe Jon at Brazel's can provide some quantitative temp data from the dyno on exhaust manifold before/after UP install ??? Any significant drop in temps at normal load could have a positive effect on the plug wires. Not sure it would have any affect at full throttle & full load tho.
