My steering wheel is locked, this happened after I turned the wheels hard right so I could access the wheel well to change the spark plugs. I am able to put the key in and turn to the accessory positon and off position only. I am able to remove the key ok. The wheel is locked hard. any suggestions ?

Set down in the drivers seat, grap the wheel with two hands. Have a assistant turn the key on to unlock the wheel as you turn hard in the direction you turned the wheel in the first place. Happened to me, same why, called my wife to be the turn key, worked fine.

This happened to me when gassing up on my way north from FL 2 weeks ago. I thought I was down at the pumps.

Anyway, I found if I turned the steering wheel hard to one side or the other I could get the ignition key to turn as normal.

Seems the steering creates pressure on the steering/key lock mechanism and it becomes impossible to turn the key. I was not turned to the extreme end so this can happen at any steering wheel position.

As a last resort, I suggest lifting the front wheels completely off the ground with the front jacks. This will certainly relieve the wheel pressure on the ignition mechanism.

Please post your resolution and good luck!

-Tom

Putting the front jacks down may help releave some tension as you try to turn the wheel to free it up.
