I want to replace the small steering wheel on my W-22 chassis with the 18" leather wheel; I found the posts about Ron The Bus Nut with better pricing on the 18" wheel. He asked me some questions I couldn't answer. Has any one replaced their wheel and which VIP wheel did you use?. My chassis was built in 08/2002. From the chassis guide it looks like workhorse has only one part number, so they should all have the same number of splines.

I replaced mine a couple of years ago with the VIP wheel from Ron. I don't have a record of a part # but all they asked when I called them was what chassis and mfg. date and the wheel they sent was an exact fit. I got the MCI horn button since at that time at least they did not have a Workhorse button. I think you are right about the shaft having the same # of splines but maybe DriVer will jump in with the correct info.

I replaced the one on our 2001 Adventurer. Just told them it was a Workhorse chassis. I got the horn button with the Gold Eagle on it. Sure made a difference in driving.

By the way you can get a Workhorse horn buttom from your WCC service center. It's about $35.00.

I didn't know they came in different sizes on the WH chassis. I read this and measured mine, 18" outside diam. I have an 05 W24, are they not the same on the W20, W22?

Thank's
Pat

The R-Series uses a "SmartWheel".

Thanks DriVer, that clears up my question. I thought I would go with a Freigtliner button, that way I can "claim"its a rare hybrid chassis.

Putting on the 18" wheel was the only major upgrade I ever did on my W-20. Was well worth the $$. Before installing the bigger wheel I had trouble seeing the dash very well.

A Frightliner horn button "would" be consistent with the upcoming holiday!

When I ordered mine they had the horn symbol button available for another $7, or close to it.
My only problem is not being able to turn the driver's seat to the rear of the coach when stopped. It wasn't a problem with the 15" wheel. I suppose I could drill and move the seat back by about an inch. There's plenty of movement available fore and aft.

Freightliner horn buttons $8.88.

I have a 15" wheel on my 2004 W20. When I was shopping for RVs, I remember seeing the bigger steering wheel. The unit I bought doesn't have it.

What are the advantages of having the larger steering wheel?
