My question is what is the input temp of the CAI intake ,verses the stock air intake as read
via the Scan-Gauge II ?

My Banks CAI reads 2 to 3 degrees higher than ambient air in my 8.1. But it will read higher
depending on other factors, such as a very high ambient temp and road composition.

My grandson has a CAI (AEM?) on a Civic and the temp is 30 or 40 deg. higher than ambient air.
This HOT air intake consist of a large METAL tube approx. 3 ft. long. Which I am thinking is
becoming heat soaked before it enters the intake. But it is hot, no very hot here today.
I did see a temp of 101 today in my Ram truck......Tenn.

The MAF sensor that is used on the 8.1L is a 5 wire version... 1 lead is the AAT sensor. If you look at the MAF sensor from the back side you will see a small probe, that is the AAT part of the MAF. So, in our case the temp of the intake tube after the MAF could be xx degrees hotter than what we see on a scan. Well, that's my opinion

A long aluminum intake tube will probably suffer from heat soak more than our plastic one. You also have a much more concentrated heat source in you grandson's rice burner than our motorhomes.

I can't answer the question in regards to air temp. I do have a Scan Gauge II however, it does not read intake air temp. At least I do not think it does.

Most of the CAI's utilized PVC pipe, which I expect has very poor thermal transfer so I would guess most of these CAI's provide air at about ambient.

My objective was to solve the water injestion issue and to address the high silicon levels my first few oil samples showed using the stock CAI. My CAI accomplished this as well as providing more air volume as suggested for the Ultra Power mods. I can see where using metal tubing for the intake could indeed add to the temperature of the air.
