I went out to get the MoHo from the desert this morning and bring it home for the summer. I checked the tire preasures and off I went in 97* down the highway. Now here is where it gets a bit strange. I'm climbing a long grade with the cruise on in a headwind running about 62mph, about halfway up it downshifts out of overdrive, and about 100 yards from the crest she drops another gear and tachs at 4200rpm's as I hit the crest. 2 upshifts and she settles down, then all of a sudden I get a con-trail out of the drivers exhaust pipe. Tap the brakes and start to slow down and head to the shoulder thinking the worst. Smoke goes away, I drive about a mile to a rest area and go over her with a fine tooth comb, everything is fine! Oils good and not burned, coolants good, trans is fine. So I headed back out towards home watching everything, drove like a dream with no further issues.
I also was running the gen with the roof airs on, but the gen continued to run with no issues.

You might have a bad plug wire or two. Under heavy load you could wash down the cylinder wall which would let some oil up into the combution chamber. When the heavy load is taken off the spark plug could have reignited and hence the contrail. I would check all the plug wires as they have been an on going issue depending on the house builder's doghouse configuration.

Could have been the transmission venting fluid out the top vent cap. This vented trans. fluid would drop down and hit the exhaust pipe and produce a lot of white smoke. Once the transmission is not working as hard as it did climbing the grade problem goes away, not smoke.

On vehicles that sit for long periods residue will build up in the catalitic converter. When you made that pull up that grade it probably heated the converter enough to burn off the residue. It has hapened to me on a car I once owned and I drove it for another 60,000 miles without any problems or it hapening again. I have heared of this hapening to others but its not real common. Their is probably nothing wrong with your MH.

Thanks for all the replies, the moho is home now and I will be doing some maint. and upgrades that I have been waiting to do. We have been so involved in the destruction of our snow destroyed old garage, and dotting the I's and crossing the T's for building and safety to get permits to build a new better garage/RV parking setup. I'm sorry to say that the moho will not get much use this summer, except for our vacation.

Same thing happened to me on a long grade. I found a small amount of oil on the dipstick tube where it joins in the middle. It must have dripped onto the manifold. A little oil can make a lot of smoke!
