Stuck ignition key

I was working on my jack panel and moved the tilting steering wheel all the way up. Now I canít remove the ignition key.
The indicator does not go all of the way into park, about 1/8í short. However the autopark does set and release as normal. All power is off just as if the key was removed.
I guess I need to adjust something.
Any ideas.

Thanks, Greg

Not sure if this is pertinent to your problem but my "06 GMC Denali exhibited the same symptoms when the battery died.

Often when I put ours in park the key won't come out. I have to push the shift lever forward to get the key to release. It should pop forward on it's own when you slide it into park but many times it doesn't

My Ford did this once, I rocked the steering wheel back and forth (it was in the locked position but moved a tad bit) that released the tension and the key came right out.

Sometimes with the tilt wheel at the top, or bottom limite it may cause the symptoms you cite yes.. Is it normal,, Well not by my standards but it is indeed common, the solution is obvious, move wheel a notch or two.

True story. handed my #2 boss the key to his car after doing something (forget what) and he said "How did you get it out of the ignition" he did not know how to remove it....

There was a release triggure on that car you can to depress to get it into the LOCKED position so you could remove the key,,, I was used to that and did it without even thinking.

Thank you for the update they are important for those who may do a search of the subject in the future.

We all need to be reminded to check the simple things from time to time.

That's very easy to do with that set-up. I've done it many times. Good thing at my age that I remembered what I did wrong before I broke something.
