I was driving my 2002 WH Chassis when I stopped continued movement and head a very neauseating crunching sound. The engine was O.K., I could hear the drive shaft turning with the engine but I wasn't moving. I noticed the awful gear oil smell and the coach was oily along the back and driver side. Also, the rear driver side wheel was oily. I presently have it parked at a truck repair shop. Can I get opinions as to what may have caused this? I am never over weight, I weighed in at 16,481 before the trip. My chassis is P32 18,000 GCWR. Is this going to be a differential replace? As rotten as it gets, I lost all of my Auto Park Brake also. I notice I could move with the brake button in the pulled out (on) position.

Good luck with the 'resolved quickly'... my W20 needed a differential replacement or repair. A new $7,500 differential was a 'back-order who knows when we can get it' and doing a $3,200 parts replacement repair took 3 1/2 weeks just to get the parts... MH was at Workhorse for over five weeks. (Above prices included labor).
Best part is that something failed immediately in the rear differential and I had to do it all over again, except that WH dealer covered the cost of the second repair.
My MH was gone so long that the RV storage facility that I use joked that they were going to rent my spot to someone else for a while since I wasn't using it...

Wow!! $7500 dollars, What was the cause of the differential failings? Hope your problems in this situation are now over.

There ought to be a used parts clearinghouse for items like this. Should be able to save 50%.

BB501, you may try looking at salvage yards for used parts. The differential used in most MH's is the same as used in med. duty trucks, like box, flat bed, some scool bus, etc. You would need to know the series differential in your MH. and the gear ratio. You can find this info in the WH Chassis guide.
