Sumo springs----maybe, maybe not
My 2004 W-22 has what looks to be Sumo springs installed on the front axle, however they are yellow in color instead of the black colored spring shown on the Sumo web site. On that site it displays the yellow colored spring as being a stiffer material. The question is, was this a factory installed option or did the PO install the wrong Sumo springs. Do any of the W-22 owners on this site have these on their front axle? Thanks in advance for any help

Those are OEM bump stop comes on W22 and W24 Workhorse

It sounds like the original bump stops although my Sumo Springs are yellow.

Check the part number on them if it starts with a W it’s OEM

Sumo’s are about 5” long and OEM are 3.5”

Thanks for setting me straight on these, I never saw a bump stop that long. Have any of you replaced these with the Sumo springs and did it make a noticeable difference? Thanks again

I have been kicking around the Sumo springs for a couple of years. Reviews I have read to date seem to be mixed so I haven't taken the plunge. The Koni's seemed to have pretty consistent positive reviews so I did install those about a year or so ago. Excellent results. I will be watching to see what type of feedback you get on the Sumo springs. Several with the Ford chassis seem to indicate positive results and Tiffin even includes them as a factory installed option.

We installed Sumo front and rear a year ago with some noted improvements such as on bumps. The Sumos we have are black and almost twice the size of the originals.

MoCo when I bought my coach it had terrible roll. 63K miles and it still had the oem shocks. I replaced the shocks with Bilstein, then the next day installed Sumo's. Between the two the roll is gone so I can't say which helped the most.

Did the same thing except with konis. Wish i would of staged the konis then some miles later sumos so i could tell what the konis on there own did as far as improvement.

I had yellow (OEM) bump stops on my 2003 Pace Arrow 35G W22. Installed new (black) Sumo Springs bump stops on the front. Not a bad job at all. Didn't have to modify or move anything. Difficult to get to but start to finish in two hours once I figured out what I needed.

Did you feel it stiffened the ride, improved the ride or was not that noticeable of difference?

Mine originally smoothed out the ride but over time it has gotten bouncy.

Sorry but it's a winter project so it hasn't moved yet. I also had new tires installed with balancing beads in all six wheels. I have new Konis coming next week to complete the upgrades. Will advise soonest.
