George, The best reason that I can come up with is that the delay will allow the engine to completely seat itself and after the introduction of the synthetic engine wear is reduced to nil.
WCC recommends this strategy in their seminars as well if that is any help.
Many of our owners here will offer that some engines are delivered OEM with synthetic so changing immediately is important to them.
I waited and now all of that is water under the bridge at the moment having clocked over 75,000 miles.
