I have seen a lot on the 8.1's, but what about the older 454's with the tbi? I looked at mine, and it looks like space above the alternator bracket and the floor is pretty limited. Are there large gains from this mod on these models? I see that Banks offers a kit that has a horn, hose and air cleaner lid along with another part I can't identify. Anyone with expereince?

Bucky1,

I just ran across your post or would have responded sooner. I have the Banks CAI 1995 454 TBI. It picks the cool air behind the grill Through a special shaped intake that allows excess air and water to bleed off without being sucked into the aircleaner. Works good on mine.

I have a 1996 Vectra GT with the 454 with TBI and when I purchased the RV it already had a Banks System installed and I wasn't sure if it was worth the cost of installation (previous owner installed it). Through this website I met another owner with the exact same RV that I have and we had numerous emails while we were working on changes to the cooling system. He didn't have the Banks System and after a few hill climbing discussions he installed a Banks on his Vectra and he DID notice a difference and said it was worth the cost (he installed it). Maybe he will read this email and confirm with his input.
