Although the brake caliper time frame caused me concern, I would like to thank WH for the initial start of the caliper replacement. I had read all the doom and gloom predictions from WH going bankrupt to Navistar dissolving WH to Bosch no longer making calipers. In the end a few, who continued to profess that the recall was going to be completed, were correct.
This board has quickly become much less controversial but continues to be very informative. Think I'll go and make an appointment for service and calipers now.

I'll second your thanks.

I was more concerned about the lack of communication from WH and the ongoing divisiveness that diverted attention from other problems.

Hopefully we can now have more positive discussions.

Right on Driver- Lets move ahead and discuss why our forum buddy, Max49's crankshaft broke in two places?

Here is a pictue of a piece of his Chevy's 8.1 crankshaft. I've never seen anything like this before. What in the world happened? He pulls the Rocky Mountain highways and roads regularly.

That would be interesting Max. Who would have ever thought that big hunk of steel crankshaft would be the weak link and break before a rod , piston or something else.
An autopsy on the engine may find the problem started some where else but would cost me a lot of money just to determine the cause. Still seems like the crankshaft would have been stronger than other parts. It is possible that it could be exactly what Burt Chevrolet told me, a manufacturing defect.
No matter what, if I ever get her back, I will never trust that it can handle more than 4000 RPM again. I just am not positive it can get across the Rockies at 4000 RPM or less.

BTW, this is the first Labor Day weekend that I was not out camping for 10 yrs or so. The ESP closed at least 2 hrs early on Fr so they could enjoy the holiday. And of course they didn't call me , as promised to give me an ETA for their decision on whether to approve or deny my claim.
