glad you took the time to provide the updates. Just wish I could afford to go with the new 25.5 chassis.

I don't know, Workhorse is boasting how much more theirs is compared to Ford, I don't see it.

What do you think?

Mertic - Workhorse - Ford - Improvement
0-60mph(tow) - 31.5sec - 34.1sec - 8.3%
40-60mph(merge) - 14.3sec - 16.0sec - 11.8%
50-70mph(pass) - 20.2sec - 22.8sec - 12.9%
Fuel mileage (MPG) - 8.8 - 8.5 - 3.5%
Noise - 80db - 83db - 3db

An independent agency was contracted to test to same model motorhomes on the 2 chassis and the Workhorse was able to ET, MPH and db better. These figures were developed from a box stock WCC chassis and if the SSC option was tested the numbers would be even further apart.

Closing the gap for Ford would be with the installation of a Banks Power Pack however in the end you would still see WCC significantly ahead in all the metrics.

I think that one of the most important things that a new Workhorse buyer would consider is that the big block Vortec-powered motor home performed all of these feats at lower rpms and ran significantly quieter.

These are real-world facts and its what will stand out head above shoulders over the Ford.

The 8.1 makes fewer revolutions more horsepower and torque throughout its entire operational range. The bonus that the stats are better is great but its clear to most folks that a big block works better than a small block in a big machine like a motorhome.

More than the ability to display better performance stats the fact that the Workhorse is built on 50,000 psi steel with a bigger rail gives Workhorse owners a continued advantage in what's really important and that's carrying the box down the road.

All I was trying to say was that 1 or 2 seconds, .3 MPG and 3db just doesn't put Workhorse significantly ahead in my books.
Don't get me wrong, in spite of all the problems I have had with my Workhorse, I still am not at all disappointed that I chose Workhorse over a Ford.

Has anyone tested the SSC kit,I tried to buy the headers so we could test them & was told it's only sold as an option on new coaches. We have done tests with the 8.1L & a Banks power pack & it just doesnt make that much difference, maybe 22-25 actual Horsepower. On the older 7.4L & the V10's it makes more of a change. We have found that the mufflers are the most restrictive component of the Workhorse exhaust system.

I put up pictures of the headers in a post called "Pictures @ Eleven" Look in this forum for the piece.

The SSC Option is more than just headers, you probably have already seen the piece I wrote about the content of the kit.

Although the SSC Option is ready to be delivered I don't know when we'll see SSC badged coaches on the road.

About SSC option parts, in time they should have these components in the supply chain as the need arises and the option becomes popular. In these times of keeping the MSRP as low as possible it may be a hard sell for some OEMs to sign on with the SSC Option even though the option is transparent to the OEM.

The Arens key-pad shifter is one such device that although available has not been widely distributed to the buying public because it raises the price of the coach.

I did see and use a key-pad shifter that was installed on a National Dolphin LX series motorhome and it was fun to use.
