I posted this in another thread but got no reply so posted it here to hopefully get an answer.

Last month On the way here to CO from AZ, just north of Flagstaff I got the "Reduced Power" message and a check engine light. I was able to pull over and shut the engine down.

The Scangauge showed an error code that signifies a TAC module, TAC assembly, or associated wiring problem. I smelled what I believe to be the fried diode odor mentioned in other posts.

Does anyone know if the diode is in the module or is it in the assembly that the accelerator pedal is part of?

The motor home ran fine for the following two days that it took to get here to Palisade CO.

Clay, I am following your post however I do not have a remedy or suggestion to offer in regard to what could have generated the burnt odor. I would only guess that it might have been a wire which when it shorted cleared itself as you were able to proceed. Had it been the modules I don't expect that you would have been able to continue.

At first I suspected a wire but the odor was characteristic of encapsulation epoxy when burned. As I recall there were a couple of past mentions of a diode burning out and I thought they could still drive the vehicle after letting it sit for a while.

You are right about a burned diode in most cases causing a total failure but in the service manual there is some mention of three or four duplicate circuits in the TAC accelerator assembly whose outputs are compared to each other in what I understand is a sort of voting process. If the diode is in that assembly maybe the remaining circuits will let it continue to function.

I did inspect all visible wiring, grounds, and the connectors. Everything looks okay.

I am considering just replacing the TAC module and the TAC assembly and hoping for the best.
