Time for new tires

I am in the process of replacing the tires on my 2003 Mountain Aire W-22. Back then, the powers that be decided 235/80R/22.5/XRV was the correct tire to put on the rig. Has anything changed in the last 6 years? Any recommendations?

Dick, I just replaced mine and the recommended size was the same. I replaced MIchelins with Michelins and continue to run the same TPs as I did on the first set...

djohn, I replaced my tires recently with the same OEM specified tire, the Michelin XRV. I am very pleased with the performance of these tires and the price wasn't all that bad although no one is typically prepared to buy 6 new tires for a motorhome all at once.

That's a fair price. Can you provide more details?

Simplyrob'

Here is a breakdown for each of the six 19.5 Michelin XZE's that I had installed this week. $317.00 for the tire, $20.00 labor, $17.50 to balance, $4.00 for 4inch steel stems and the rest is sales tax, FET and disposal. These are Tennessee prices but should be just about the same most places. If I would have bought XRV's that the new tires replaced it would have been slighly less.
It certainly is a shock to buy all six at one, but had to do becasue we're planning a north country trip next month.

Hope this helps.

Bob

The best quote I got in Southern Illinois for 6 Michelin 19.5 XRVs is $2,194 installed out the door. That is about $365 per tire.

I don't believe you will find those prices on 22.5's.

Thanks for all the input. I will stay with the Michelin XRVs. The best price I've gotten so far is $400 each, out the door. I'm not done haggleing yet, though!

Drive safely!

I have our 04 Holiday Rambler at Redlands Truck and Rv Center (888.249.0124) in for 6 of the XRVs. $385 each, $2784.89 out the door, r&r, mounted and balanced. That was the best price in the area (Inland Empire, Socal) and they are nice folks. Six tires at a time is a shocker but the purchase price reflected the need for new tires.. The Coach had just short of 10,000 miles on it when I bought it last week, but the side walls were pretty weather checked.

Since you're buying XRV tires, you can take advantage of the rebate offer Michelin is giving from April 1st through May 31. It's only $ 15.00 a tire but on 6, that's $ 90 bucks and will buy a couple nights of camping.

Michelin Rebate Offer
