We complete a 2yr search for a MH and settled on a 09 Simba 34sbd. The coach will be ready for pick next week and has 30 miles on it. I would like any tips on break-in and what to look for on the w22 engine/ trany/ brakes. I have a scanguage II so would like to monitor trany temp? Does this require special code to get the read out? Can I pull a toad during break-IN?
Thanks THE NEWEST NUBIE

I would drive it normaly but try to vary your speeds ie. don't drive at 60mph for hours. Vary to 50 - 70 mph. Don't baby it don't abuse it. Go easy on your brakes for about 5-600 miles. Don't tow the toad for about 1000 miles as it would put extra strain on the brakes etc. Have fun.

When I bought my new Winnebago with the W-22, it had almost 1,000 miles on it, as it was driven from the factory. I noticed that the top speed was right at 80 mph. The delivery drivers drive like there is no tomorrow. I would drive it like you normally would. The transmission will "learn" your pedal habits. I wouldn't hesitate to tow a toad right off the bat.
FYI: The Scanguage II will not be able to read your 6-speed Allison transmission temperatures. For some reason, it can only read the temperatures if you have a 5-speed Allison....annoying, I know!

Good choice!!! We purchased a 2008 Safari Simba 34SBD in Feb '08. Take it easy for the first few thousand miles and enjoy.

Unless the Factory is down the street Why would it only have 30 miles on it?
Where was it built and where was it sold?
If it's more then 30 miles away, I would question why...it shows 30?

Well that makes it real nice. The delivery folks tag team the driving, only stopping for fuel. So most of them are broke in when they hit the dealers lot at 70 or 80 MPH, like it or not..

Just reading old threads here today...
I'm probably a bit late on this one.
Chassis break-in is important. The bearings in the diff and trans need to seat, and the motor needs to wear-in some, especially the rings. So yes, drive normally, vary speeds, and let it cool off every 100 miles for the first 500. And NO TOWING!! Differentials get really hot 'till they get run in, and it takes about a thousand miles. It's the main reason some say to change the diff fluid at a 1000 miles but no one does it.
The brakes will seat within a couple of hundred miles so that's not a problem.
It used to be that motor oil needed a change, but I understand they are all test-run at the factory and then drained, so an early oil change is not necessary. I still like to do them within 3K miles. Don't forget your trans needs a filter change within 5K. And with our brake situation an annual fluid flush is cheap preventive maintenance.
I can't remember if the new Allisons are shipping with transynd. Seems to me mine said if you want the extended warranty to apply, and long OCI's, you need to switch. I just went with amsoil torque-drive at about 10K on mine.
Hope this helps those with the brand new units. Oh, and yes, the delivery guys drive them like striped-apes. Mine showed 78mph top speed on the computer, and they rev the crap out of the motors too. Oh well, a quick break-in when they drive them out from the factory

DriVer,
I believe you made a typo, it should be 5000 miles for the spin on change.
Best Regards!
