While inspecting under my 2001 Airstream Land Yacht, I discovered a missing bolt from my front sway bar and another loose one. I decided to replace all the mounting hardware at this time. I purchased grade 8 nuts, bolts and lock washers and now I need to know how tight to tighten them. I read somewhere that 3/8-16 bolts were to be torqued to between 25-35 lb/ft. Is this tight enough for suspension parts? I need to know soon because I am leaving next week for Florida to see my new Granddaughter. Thanks.

According to this web site I found, 3/8-16 Grade 8 bolts should be torqued (dry) to 45 lb-ft. You might also want to use a little Loctite on the threads to help keep things together.

A lot of the problems they had with loose bolts are related to the lock washer. I would use self locking nuts.
