Towing a 2003 P32 chassis
Does anyone know if the drive shaft on a 2003 P32 has to be removed before being towed?

well sometimes it is easier to remove the rear axle shafts but yes you can't tow it over a mile on all 4 unless the engine is running. Usually we unhook at the rear end so your not spinning the drive shaft.

It depends. If you plan to use the RV again under power of the engine and want the power of the engine transmitted through the transmission to the rear axle, then the drive shaft should be disconnected. If you're towing it because the transmission is bad, then maybe it's O.K. to leave the drive shaft connected. If you're replacing the transmission.

Do you have the J71 Autopark Brake? When ours failed, we had to disconnect the drive line just to move the vehicle. The J71 locks up the drive shaft.

I don't have an auto park brake. Can I just put it neutral and have it towed?

If you plan to pull it more than a mile or two, NO. It's not hard to unfasten and tie up the drive shaft at the differential, most every tow truck operator has tools and skill to do it. The automatic transmission is not lubricated with the engine off and the turning rear wheels will turn the transmission output shaft doing damage to the bearings in the transmission.

I had a P30. Driveshaft must be disconnected to tow. Tow truck driver should have the tools and knowledge to do so.

Thanks for the response. After breaking down in the spring, I was getting all the info I could for this trip down the east coast. I did install the ignition switch relay kit. And I've gone 650 miles so far and it seems to be working, no blown fuses yet. And I also replaced my front air bags, which has given be a much smoother ride. And now it's good to know that if I need to be towed that the drive shaft must be disconnected.
