Just went over 16K with my 05' Dolphin Lx, W24 chassis. Changed to Royal Purple 5/30 and still have Dex III in Tranny. Question, I weigh loaded at 22,300 and am thinking of changing my toad to a Chevy silverado (approx wt. is 5300#'s). Live out west in the mtns. Is this too much to pull? Your comments will be appreciated.

I have several thoughts.

1: My Dolphin hitch is only rated for 4000#.

2: My W22 has great brakes, your W24 should be even better however, I use TOAD braking on my Jeep Wrangler (Unified Tow Brake), and feel it is a necessity.

3: Bite the bullet and switch to TranSynd; especially if your going to tow your Silverado.

4: The 8.1l engine should have plenty of power though many of us are using Ultrapower mods and C.A.I.s.

Our Dolphin is rated to go to 30,000 gross, however, I am not really sure of the hitch rating. I do have aux braking with the m&g system on my jeep and would transfer it. The mh also has been ultapowered but not with the latest release. Still not sold on transynd till the 50,000 mile service.

Sold or not, Transynd or synthetic transmission fluid is the best fluid solution for your Allison automatic. Please also check to see if your spin on filter was changed at the 5,000 mile mark.
