We had been boon docking for 2 days in Dallas when we got on ready to leave the jacks didn't want to raise and the engine just barely started. We had been running the gen for the whole time and had run 1 a/c the whole time we also watched tv and ran a rotisserie smoker for the whole time question No 1 does the gen set not keep the batteries charged.
Any way on the road in heavy rain and strong winds thanks to Ike as i was going up a slight hill the tyranny downshifted into 4h and then seemed to slip and really started acting strange not wanting to come out of 4th and go back into 6th after about 159 miles got home and this would happen all the time when it got into 4th some times it happened when i was in cruise others when i was not any idea just had it serviced at the WH facilities in Broken arrow about 250 miles before that. any ideas

The generator feeds the power converter with it's usual built in charger and should be charging your coach batteries the same as it would on shore power. Mine also charges the chassis battery. Have you checked your battery's water? Have you checked your transmission's oil level?
Can't think of what coach batteries would have to do with the transmission.
Just grasping for straws, right now....keep poking and maybe something will turn up.

CHUCK: That will depend on your coach builder. Most provide a switch to tie the coach and chassis battys together for "emergency start", however the battys are otherwise kept apart by an isloator. SOME coach builders provide a Bi-Directional relay that allows the shore pwr/genset to flow current to the chassis batty to help keep it charged, but these devices "usually" only do so after the coach battys are fully charged. If you use of the coach systems was pulling capacity out of the house battys, perhaps you never got any charge to the chassis batty. ED

Chuck Linn;

My HWH system is powered from the chassis battery. If the voltage is low it would not activate the jack solenoids to release the hydraulic. I believe low voltage could mess up the operation of your TCM & ECM. My guess would be low chassis battery voltage. Possibilities include bad battery, loose or dirty cables, or faulty alternator. My suggestion is to first check your battery voltage under load.

The tranny computer requires a minimum voltage to operate correctly. If you battery is bad and won't charge, this might be the problem.
