Called a number of places to find T-105 Trojan golf cart batts to replace my two 12V deep cycle batts (Sam's Club Gp 24 ST24DC140), $45 each. Trojan dealer said price of lead went up, so T-105 selling for $70-80 a few months ago now cost $125 each. Another website had them for $160 each. Anyone know of a better recent price?
One website had them for $99, but min order was four. Only need two.

If you are going to replace 2ea. 12 volt batteries, with the 6 volt Trojans, you will have to buy FOUR 6 volt Trojans, so the web site that sells 4 for $99 ea. may be your best bet. You may also want to check and see if you have a local INTERSTATE BATTERY dealer as they sell DEEP CYCLE "WORKAHOLIC" 6 volt batteries that are comparable to the TROJANS and they may be easier to get locally and cheaper than what you can get online plus the shipping charges.
Good Luck - Glenn

In a previous post on this subject, only TWO 6V Trojan batts replaced two 12V batts. In a 2003 Winny, WH chassis.

You may already know this but FYI.....
Hooking batteries in parallel will give you the same voltage as a single battery, but with a Ah and current carrying capacity equal to the sum of the capacities of all the batteries. For example, three 12v 20 Ah batteries in parallel will give you 12v 60 Ah. If each battery could put out 200 amps max, three in parallel could put out 600 amps max.
Hooking the batteries in series will give you a voltage equal to the total voltage of all the batteries, but the Ah and current carrying capacity of only one. For example, three 12v 20 Ah batteries in series will give you 36v 20 Ah. If each battery could put out 200 amps max, then three in series will put out only 200 amps max.

The more I read about this the more confused I get by the various responses.
Bottom line - Am I correct in my understanding that 2 Trojan 6v T-105's in series are a better choice than 2 Interstate 12v SRM-24's in parallel?

You guys are confusing me too. Thudman is cosidering replacing 2 12 volt batteries with 2 6 volt batteries. He did'nt say he was considering 4 6 volt batteries. Now I have almost always heard 2 6 volt are better house batteries than 2 12 volt, I'm not sure why but that's what I have heard, what do you guys think? How about 3 12 volt vs 2 6 volt?

I'd prefer 4 also but I haven't measured my battery tray yet. Maybe after this next noreaster goes by.
Back in 2003 there was a picture posted on irv2 showing 4 T-105's in an Adventurer 35U. Without having taken actual measurements of my battery box area I'm having difficulty envisioning 4 of them fitting. The literature I've seen shows an Interstate SRM-24 as 11 L - 6 7/8 H - 9 1/2 W and the Trojan T-105 as 10 3/8 L - 10 7/8 H - 7 1/8 W. With those measurements I can't see 4 replacing 2 BUT I've been wrong before.

Thudman,
Sorry I didn't mean to hijack your post. In the next few days I hope to get a price for the T-105's. Will let you know when I get it.

You might want to download and read Ample Power's Primer. It should give you quite a bit of info on batteries. Also you might be interested in their Technical Documents page

Thudman, two 6v batteries will be better than two 12v batteries for your house side. The Trojan T-105s will fit right into your Winnie box under the entry steps; the Trojans are about 1" taller, but no big deal. You'll need to make a couple new short cables to hook up the 6v batteries. -Use 2 gauge.
Do a search in the Winnie forum on "Trojan" and you'll find the info and pics you need.

Tom

I agree with Troth. If you are only going to have two batteries, I would go with the two 6 volt. The amp rating will be close enough to the two 12 volt and the 6 volt will hold up better. This assumes that the initial cost of the batteries will not be out of reach. Fleetwood shipped my Southwind with two Trojan 105's and they are not known for putting in the equipment which costs more and preforms less.
