"True" odometer reading?

Is there somewhere where the actual odometer mileage is stored, maybe the ECM? I have the R26 UFO Chassis and two times when the batteries died I lost mileage on the odometer. As near as I can tell it was about 400 miles each time.

Yes, you should be able to pull that info from your ECM. How accurat it is is questionable! Our rig is out by around 10% as far as I can tell. Optomistic, at best.
At least it makes you feel good with the mileage readings.
Happy Glamping.

The mileage is not stored on the ECM. The instrument panel has a memory chip that stores the data, even with no power to it. Makes me think that on the UFO it must get its mileage data from one of the CCM’s. I’ll look into it and let you know what I find.

Sorry, I thought maybe automotive ECM's would store as much information as the ECM'S in trucks. I guess they just aren't as sophisticated.
We always used the mileage from the ECM for warranty records.
Happy Glamping.

Ps. Can the ppm be changed on the ECM for a 2007 8.1 Chevy in a W24 chassis?

This is copied from the 09 Actia Intrument Service guide, I think odometer data is stored in the instrument cluster circuit but doesn't exactly say where the EEPROM is located:

The season odometer displays 0.0 - 9,999,999.9 with a resolution of 0.1 mi/km. Leading zeros are
only displayed in the 1’s position. The vehicle distance is calculated by the ECM and just displayed
by the LCD. During normal operation the odometer value is stored in the EEPROM at each
kilometer rollover. This allows the cluster to retain the value within 1 kilometer should there be an
abnormal loss of power to the instrument panel. At a normal shutdown the fully accrued odometer
value will be stored in the EEPROM. It can be displayed on the LCD in miles or kilometers. A
maximum of two trip odometers offered.

Thanx Jon

I vaguely remember another UFO owner having the same problem. I don't want to have a problem down the road if the dash odometer and something else doesn't agree. I have always changed the oil and filter at as close to 3000 miles as possible. I think I may be due for a change now but the odometer is 500 miles short of 3000 since the last one.

This is what I was able to find in the UFO service manual:

Total Vehicle Distance

The total vehicle distance is calculated and stored by the front CCM master controller and broadcast to the cluster on J1939. The total vehicle distance is determined using the PCM J1850 odometer rolling counter ($7A/$06). This 16-bit counter is increased by the PCM every 1/4000 of mile (1/6 437 km) and starts over every 16.4 miles. The CCM keeps track of counter rollovers and stores the cumulative distance as a 32-bit variable which starts over only after the vehicle had completed 1,073,741 miles.

Total Distance Backup

The total vehicle distance calculated and stored by the front CCM master controller is broadcast on RVC and stored by the front and rear slave controllers as a backup value. If the front CCM master controller was defective and its total vehicle distance counter was lost, then the backup value could be read and reprogrammed into a new CCM using the CADET software.
