You don't have much info your Workhorse tune. Numbers, charts, data, etc.

How do we compare your tune to others?

I would really like more details on what parameters are changed. I have seen many an LS motor fry the #7 piston due to aftermarket tunes so I am leery of changing from the stock tune since this motor is working hard to move 12 tons.

I have about 12,000 miles on the 5 Star tune on my W22. Very pleased with the improved performance but starting to get concerned when I hear about some tunes destroying engines. I would like to hear from 5 Star about how their tune is safe for our 8.1 engines.

When we tune a vehicle we always make sure to stay within the GM or Ford recommended parameters. That way we are not doing any damage to the engine. It is bad publicity to damage a person's expensive rig, and bad publicity travels alot faster than good publicity.

The rig we had to test on was too big for our dyno so unfortunately we do not have charts. We are in the process of building a new building with an in-floor dyno big enough to accommodate any vehicle possible. The tune we have developed is from miles of driving and really heavy loads towed behind it. There was large revisions at first until it was really small revisions. Once we found a tune we liked we started selling it. Sometimes on our tunes a person prefers a different shift point, or something along those lines and if we can safely fix it we will. I can promise you that you will not find a better driving tune on the market.

5star,
Do you have anything for a '96 454 on the p32 chassis? Or is that older than you work with?

Is it a '96 chassis? The reason I ask is because alot of times a '96 model will be on a '95 chassis and '95 chassis do not have an OBDII port. Without an OBDII port we will not have the right equipment or software to tune it.

We can tune it even if it's a 95 chassis. Our tunes have been RV specific ever since the beginning, we didn't adapt from automotive.

Just remember we are strictly a tuning and performance shop that is our focus. We do not fix water heaters or toilets and we do not outsource our tunes. When you call 5 Star you can talk to the guy that will be tuning your rig directly. But it is up to the forum members who they choose to tune their $100,000 motorhome. We are glad to help.

Our main focus is not water heaters or toilets either, however, we employ a specific technician just for that kind of work as a convenience to our customers. We are an RV chassis upgrade facility first and foremost which includes engine and suspension products. We do our own tuning in house and have an RV chassis dyno just for that reason. When it comes to your $100,000 coach you'll be hard pressed to find a more honest or reputable company than us.

We have a dyno and have had many Workhorse RV and V10 RV models at our shop. We have also been featured in the Motorhome magazine as the Readers Choice Gold winner three years in a row. Drive-ability and customer service is a big focus of ours. Just give us a call and we can answer any questions you have.
