On the 8.1 Litre engine I have two fans in front of the radiator. When should they turn on? I have never heard or seen them running but my water temp never goes over 197 degrees. Also, and this will make me sound dumb, is there are regular engine driven fan on the 8.1? Thanks.

BB501 The fans will run in the AC mode and will run continously when operating in the max AC position.

The engine does have a main fan and you will hear it cycle on and off occasionally. The 197 is normal and you might see about 207 during hot summer conditions. I have never seen a reading higher than 209 on my Scan Gauge

Deputy Chief,
Thanks for the great response. I did not know those fans operate via the AC switch. And now that you mention it, I do recall hearing a fan sound when I placed the switch in max air. Thanks again.
Steve
