I had my AC repired back in March. The compressor was blown and the air dryer was full of metal shrapnel. Both were replaced. The AC worked like a champ going home from Greenboro NC where Terry Labonte RV and Workhorse service center made the repairs. The AC worked three weeks ago today on our trip up to Galax VA. Coming home today...nothing. No cold air and the condensor fan will not run as well. Before even with a blown compressor the condensor fan ran. My warranty ends next month and I am getting tired guys. It has taken me three years to work the bugs out of this coach and now one of them has come back to visit me again...
HELP!

Derrick, I can tell you this, David at Larry's Auto Clinic in Myrtle Beach is one of the top half dozen technicians that I know of that other techs call when they have UFO problems.
I'd call and get on the short list to have Dave work on your motorhome.
PS: Missed you at the VA State Samboree. One of your chapter members came by my display today and dropped your name.

I called Eric at Workhorse today..it was good to talk to him again. He believe that the system has lost enought freon to trip the low pressure switch or it may be something electrical. The compressor is not engaging when I turn the dash control to AC. He says that I should take it back to Terry Labonte RV. He believes that they have a good knowledge of UFO systems and should be able to complete the repair. I will do as he suggests.
I have a good coach and will do what it takes to keep it for a long, long time.

Derrick, Calling Eric was a good move and I concur with his assessment. The guys at Terry Labonte are GM techs and they should be able to figure this stuff out. I agree that it must simply be a loss of refrigerant.

The compressor on my UFO failed in Wyoming last year and was replaced in Rapid City, SD. It stopped cooling about 2 weeks later. When I got home last August the local Workhorse shop found no "freon" and 2 leaking hoses. They repaired it and it worked until February, now it won't cool again. I am taking it back in to see what has failed now.

Did you get your air conditioning repaired?
How did you make out?
Mike

I called Labonte...they want me to bring it back to them but I have not had the time to do so yet. Hopefully I will return the coach later this week. I suspect a leak somewhere for sure.

Well it seems that all the freon leaked out of the system. The high pressure switch/relay is one leak as well as the switch is bad. There is also a leak near the compressor in the line that runs all the way to the front of the coach to the dryer. That line is a bear to replace (about 30 hours labor and I keep hoping I heard wrong). The Workhorse repair facility hopes it has enough slack in the line so they can cut out the bad section and crimp on a new fitting and reattach to the compressor. The switch and the line are covered under the chassis warranty sort of. The line has to have failed. If the leak is caused by chaffing or something like that then it was an improper install and well there is no HR warranty to fix that!

My UFO goes an tomorrow for the non working AC. It is still under warranty from the last repair unless it is a new leak. The shop told me they put dye it the system last time so the leak should be easy to find.

Forensics .. What a wonderful science! Good luck and wishing you a speedy resolution. They use a black light or something like that and the leak sticks out like a sore thumb.
