UFO cluster not remembering mileage

Here's a weird one for you. My speedometer shows the mileage going up until I turn off the engine.
When I restart it shows the same mileage from when the trip started! This started two days ago. I guess I will always have a low mileage vehicle. Its a pain trying to calculate gas mileage, I have to record it before I turn off the engine.

I think it happened because I lost all 12 volts from the chassis battery when the engine is off...I think I have a bad manual disconnect. I lost power to the steps, dome light and anything else that works off the chassis battery. I had to use the boost to start the coach. The coach ran off the alternator when the engine was on, no chassis battery at all.

Odometer

And I thought I was crazy. Last year going to Teaxs I thought our odometer was incorrect and looking thru service invoices I was correct. Our odometer went back 1000 miles. Never happened since and never looked into it

Oh boy ... that's not a good thing I understand. I'm not sure how that effects your speedometer on the UFO. All that info comes through the WISE I expect and there might be something goofy with either one of the computers.

I have the twelve volts now after messing with the manual disconnect. I was able to start the engine with the chassis battery but I have no way of knowing if the speedometer is going to work correctly until I get it on the road again. I also don't know if these two things are related, though I expect they are. The alternator did charge the house batteries as I was going down the road so there was a load on it the whole time. Good thing I would hate for it to overheat.

It sounds like you're getting a handle on the issue and I expect you should be good to go when you get back on the road.

The speedometer won't loose it's mileage info that I'm aware of. That info has be be infallibly recorded, it's a federal thing. The anomaly that you're describing is as if it's coming up in one of the Trip 1 or Trip 2 modes.

I will double check that but it didn't show trip one or two not that I noticed anyway.

Hey Gramps, can you define what you refer to as the 'manual disconnect'? Is this the chassis battery cut off switch that you rotate 180 degrees from "on" to "off"? Mine is located on the back wall of the battery enclosure.

Same here. Its a big red knob located in the battery compartment. I found out that most of my problems were caused by a chassis battery with a dead cell. Once I replaced it, things started to work much better.

My UFO cluster started acting up today. The speedo jumps from 60 to 80 and the tach jumps from 2000 to 4000 all while driving at about 60 MPH. The speedo and tach also surge when sitting still, just not as dramatic. Don't know if it is related or not, but I had the UltraPower upgrade done on Thursday and today is the first day I have driven it since the upgrade. I am going to take it to Redlands RV and Truck repair on Monday, hopefully they will have an answer.
