Motor Saga Continues
The motor was pulled last week, including the rad and everything else. Taken from the back end as suggested. Heads removed revealing 2 melted pistons and 1 damaged. Result: new motor ordered along with hoses, water pump oil lines etc. Rad was flushed out and checked. My coach has been down there since 27 Feb [Very sad] Last info I had was that motor was being shipped on 31 March to Daytona, from Kentucky.
Also the HCU is going to be replaced. [ABS & ATC warning lights on] Can you just imagine what this is going to cost me in US dollars x 1.34

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I'm adding the link to my HCU install if you need it.

That's a tough one for sure, not gonna be cheap!
I'm curious how many miles were on the engine and what kind of maintenance had been performed on it over it's life.
Were there any problems before it went bad?

56,400 miles as it sits. No problems with it at all until that final few miles. Only difference, was changing to full synthetic oil approx. 2,000 miles earlier. Always used regular oil before.

Forgot to mention: This is not the original engine. It was replaced with a Jasper in May of 2012. I am not the original owner. Much research has gone into this by many professionals. It is a mystery.

I suppose there is no way of knowing the exact miles on the original Jasper engine, because it was most likely a re-manufactured engine itself.

Mileage
No record of mileage. All we know is that Jasper was installed in May 2012. Dealer has called original owner several times, and he does not return. As Mike said: Privacy laws protect original owner from a disclosure by Jasper Manufacturing as to causes, mileage etc.
New motor has arrived. Work finally begun......

Shouldn't be a whole lot longer before you have your coach back. You know you would be very welcome to stop by and see us at Deer Creek on your way back home.

Coach still there
The coach is still at Maudlins International Daytona. If you read the previous posts, it has been there since 27 February. New motor finally installed, but they always seem to have delays and excuses. Personally I think that the Tech. is jumping from one job to another. If he was working on this full time, the coach would be back at home in Canada long ago.
Appalling service.....

The FCA is the radiator Fan Clutch Assembly. It is a thermostatically controlled unit, when the engine heats up to a certain level the clutch turns on the radiator fan (which is connected to the water pump) and the wind and water circulates faster around and thru the engine. When the temp drops the FCA slows it all back down to normal speed and in the case of the fan, it just coasts and turns passively from the wind funneled from the air channel that runs from the front of the chassis. There was a problem with the oil inside the FCA, it was the wrong viscosity too thin, and would heat up too quickly making the fan and the water pump overwork with out a break to the point they would come apart. This was really bad, the fan would destroy the radiator, the water pump would fly apart and the engine would heat up like a volcano darn quick, in just minutes it could seize up and die. There were not many of these FCAs that were defective, but the manufacturer of these units had no way of knowing which UFO coaches had the bad ones, so all of them were voluntarily recalled by Workhorse to change the FCA and the water pump out for new. I had it done, and recorded the change with Workhorse. A few did not, they ignored the recall and well you can figure out what happened.

This makes my 3rd. engine. But I am not the original owner. He may have been one of the guys that didn't follow through with the FCA recall.
