A couple of days ago I was installed a second lighter plug that is through the ignition switch for the controller for the toad brakes. That will be one less thing to remember when we stop and take off again. The question I had is when I was working the turn signal switch got pushed down. That evening I looked outside, and I saw a light on buy the motorhome. I went out and checked and the left front and rear turn signal lights were on but not flashing, and the ignition was off. I tried the right side and they did not come on. I then got the key and with the ignition on both directions flashed normaly. I know it is not feedback from the new switch, as I used a seperate terminal on the fuse panel, and if it was feedback both directions would come on. Is this one of those unexplained UFO things? Could someone with a UFO chassis try theirs and let me know if their left turn will light with the ignition off. I hope it does, as I find enough to keep me busy as it is.

Jeeper, I'm going to be vague cause it was months ago but I think my UFO did something similar. Rear light was on but no key etc. I've never left a key in the ignition! Made me crazy for a couple of minutes till for no good reason I tried the turn signal. Must have tripped it while cleaning up inside. I'm vague about which direction but I do remember no flashing.

I would go double check but the MH is in the storage yard right now.

cj5 Jeeper ! The problem is a defective blocking diode in the turn signal harness.
Diodes are used to prevent this type of problem and protect the chassis circuits from outside voltages, that can be damaging to the these circuits or cause them to stop functioning.
The problem requires the applicable wiring diagrams and a location chart to find the defective part.
Finding them on your own is possible, but requires going a mile of wires and wire loom.
The diodes for the turn signal circuits are generally right under the dash around the steering wheel or out side in the area of the firewall.
I do not have any current wiring info. for the workhorse chassis, but if you google turn signal wiring for you year you might get lucky. Trailer wiring might help.

Dick.

Three out of three UFO owners with the same thing tells me it is the nature of the beast. I am sure there were some warranty claims for this, and I would try to get an answer from Workhorse, but the odds are they would tell me to take it to a shop to pay a teck to call workhorse to be told a couple of things to test and then tell me it is one of those things to live with. If it becomes a problem then I will get out the meter and find it. It happened a couple of days ago, and I did not think it was worth worring about, but then thought if I ask about it then I will know it is then the natrure of the beast, and other UFO owners will know about it, which may save someone from a dead battery. Thank you for your answers to my question.

Mine does it to, so it must be in the design. I have seen many European cars parked in the outside spot of a parking lot with the outside exposed side of the car with those lights on. For example if parked in the last spot on the line of RVs in a RV park with vehicles making the turn around you this may be a good feature to leave on all night.

Seems like a dead battery(s) waiting to happen. What if your MH is parked where you don't see it or at a storage yard? It could be days or weeks before you noticed it was on.

I agree with you Dunner, I do not know to go further or live with it. When it happened I would have killed the battery if I had not opened the front door to call one of our cats that did not want to come in.

Without seeing the schematic, I don't know if a diode would fix it. Depending on where it would be, it could block the voltage going to the lamp when it should.

I just sent an e mail to workhorse, if and when I get an answer I will let you know. I told them I checked on line and everyone with the UFO when they checked it did the same thing.

Three working days and no answer from Worhorse. I did not hold out much hope, as Navastar did not build this chassis. If Driver or Jon Brazel tried maybe they could get an answer about that turn signal switch.

cj5 jeeper, Jon may be making his way through snow on his way to Quartzsite, AZ. Just send him a PM and wait for an answer. He will get back to you.

I'm not sure to whom you addressed your eMail at Workhorse.

If everyones turnsignal works the same on the UFO's, and it has caused no problem for anyone,--- whats the concern?
