I had the UltraPower, platinum plugs and Taylor wires installed on the UFO at the Palm Desert Rally. First tank of fuel, mileage was 5.92. First 60 miles was on 7 cylinders, then up the Cajon and Tehachapi passes. Not as good as I would have liked but probably OK considering the conditions.
Plenty of power, maybe too much! While driving up the Cajon Pass at 60 MPH, the "Check the Transmission Fluid Temp" warning came on. I slowed down and the warning went away. I wonder if I now have more power than the Allison can handle on a long up hill pull?
The next section of our trip is mostly level so maybe it will be a better indication of MPG.

A ScanGuage will allow you to monitor transmission temperature, and everything else your engine computer sees. These little gadgets are really neat; plugs into the OBD2 port. Also gives mileage every 2 seconds, horsepower, throttle setting, engine coolant temp, etc, etc. Around $160

What transmission does the UFO have? If it's the new Allison 6-Speed the Scan Gauge may not work. I have the Allison 2350 MH 6-Speed and no one has been able to break the code to get a transmission temperature reading on the ScanGauge yet. If it's the 5-Speed then the ScanGauge should work just finr.

I believe gotta_p is correct. I know OEMY has been trying for quite a while to get the SG to display the TFT on the SG II, but he is without sucess. However, if he has now solved the problem, I expect Dale will chime in here shortly. ED

Wayne,I went to Oemy's back in February so he would have a six speed to play with, but no luck! You can talk to Oemy, but I think we need somebody to go to scan gauge in Phoenix with a six speed. And if you still want a scan gauge, see Oemy, his are priced right, and he will pre-program it for you,for the other stuff that it can do!

Hi Wayne,
don't understand the 7 cylinders comment?? Is there an issue with the upgrade?? There should be no issues mine has worked great, I have done a little better with MPG's, not alot but a little better.
Just so you know, I have had that same "Check trans temp warning" come on. It came on once before the ultra power upgrade was done while I was on a trip, and once last month on a trip. I just backed my foot off a little and the warning went away like yours.

Craig
The UltraPower upgrade was done on Thursday and I drove the RV for the first time on Saturday. The Tach and the Speedo were acting up and the tail lights were flashing on and off. I drove it about 60 miles to San Bernardino to have the my Trans leak fixed. After the leak was fixed, I drove it back to Redlands Truck & RV where they found a burnt or not connected plug wire. The Pro Scan looked good after the upgrade so I am not sure what happened.
The Trans leak was a gasket on the PTO cover.

CraigA,
How was the power and mpg improvement if any, on the flat and in the hills/mountains, after the upgrade. I am contemplating the upgrade after I am out of warranty. Thanks Greg
