On a 2004 W22 workhorse. I was crawling around under the MH and noticed two pieces of material about 2 ft. by 5 ft laying across the top of the frame. One in the area of the emergency brake and the other about where the center of the driveshaft would be. these pieces were not fasted down and had undercoat on them. does anyone know what these are for and should I remove them or try to fasten them down.

Are they clanging and knocking around now? I presume you're "just curious" and there's no problem...
I suspect they're heat shields to reflect heat from the exhaust & cat system, and should hang an inch or so below the coach floor.

Yes I am just curius as to what they are for, and if I should remove them. They will probably fall out in time anyway unless they are fastened down.

I'm gonna take an educated guess here.

I don't think that they are Workhorse issue. I'm betting that they're from the coach builder.

Those two areas are greasable areas on rotating shafts. This means that they will sling excessive grease out as the driveshaft turns. Maybe the coach builder doesn't want grease slapped up underneath the flooring in that area? Either that or they stuck them there during manufacturing and forgot to take them out.

Then again, the third possibility is that my guesses are way off - in which case, never mind.
