Heater motor P-30 Chevy Winnebago 1999

Don't know what to do - heater blower motor on the Chevy engine won't run correctly. Switch replaced when it wouldn't run on High. Replaced blower motor. Breaker got way too hot - replaced several. It will run for about 20 minutes without a problem, so what do we check now.
We had our air compressor replaced last May at Winnebago and it quit again last fall.
Would that be connected somehow?

UPDATE - 3/22/08
Hubby said - These is a 30 amp circuit breaker that feeds the high speed. This will trip after 20-40 minutes. A new breaker trips sooner. A different motor did not make a difference. A 30 amp fuse in the place of the new breaker ran for more than an hour and is still OK.
motor replaced
Switch replaced
Relay replaced
Resistor replaced

SO now what do we do?

PEGDIVER: Since your question about the dash fan is more of a "Winnie" issue, I am adding a shortcut tot that forum in hopes of getting you some help.

I have a '98 Brave and had a similar problem some time ago. If you open the "hood" and look to the upper left, you will see the heater/ac box. On the face of the box are a couple of relays. I replaced the high speed relay (simply replace and plug in the wiring harness) and also the resistor pack. Everything then worked fine. Got the parts from Lichtsinn. They have great service people there. Give then the year, model and VIN and they will research to get you the right parts. My total cost was under $20 including shipping. Could probably have gotten parts for less at the local auto parts dealer, but they could't match the resistor pack.

Here's a picture of the area I am talking about. The relay is the black one in the center.

Thanks Tom for your reply.
Hubby says he replaced that relay and the resistors(?). That is what he tried first I guess. should have gotten all the facts from him written down. Oh well.

We do order from Lichtsinn for some things - they are always very good at figuring out what we need. And prompt too.

I have the same trouble, my fan will not run in high speed. It runs in all other 3 speeds. I replaced that high speed telay but I have the same results. The first 3 speeds work but no high speed.

Sounds like this could be a switch problem. Has anyone tried powering their fan directly with 12 volts to see if it runs high speed bypassing the switch?

Just a thought.

I know it sounds too simple, but also check the wires at the rear of the switch on the dash to make sure nothing has worked loose. At one point I noticed that while working on other items I somehow worked a wire loose from its connector.

Also for bobpie, you might also try replacing the resistor pack. To get my high speed to work correctly it required replacing both the resistor pack and the relay.

The high speed is fed by a seperate wire, and is fused seperately. Odds are it is not the switch. Check the connector that plugs into the relay. The connections can be bad. Turn the ignition key on, then set the fan switch to high, and choose either defrost or heat. Grab that relay and connector and wiggle things around and see if the fan comes on.

If no results, look under the dash for a a six way connector that only uses 3 of the six spaces. Probably a black, blue, and white wire. Should be 12 volts black to ground, and 12 volts blue to ground, and continuity from white to ground. (all with the key on of course) If no voltage as described start looking for a fuse or circuit breaker that has blown or tripped.

Get down to the motor and unplug the wires that hook up to it. Then turn the switch on and see if the circuit breaker still trips. If it still trips you have a short somewhere in the circuit. If it doesn't trip, you need another motor. You can also run wires directly from the battery to the motor, with a fuse in the circuit of course, and see if it still blows the fuse. If it does, again, new motor. If not you have a short in the wiring.

There is a separate fuse for the High Speed on the heater fan. It is an inline fuse on the firwall right in front of the driver, under the hood.
