At the Pomona FMCA rally I attended a Workhorse seminar that was well done and very helpful.
While there I had a sidebar with one of their reps about front suspension noise on my 2003/2004 W-22. It was suggested that a retrofit kit might solve the problem so they sent me one. It consists of several plastic parts including inserts, shims and washers with instructions for installation.
Has anyone done this, and did it help?

Is the front suspension noise you refer to the infamous "clunk" that almost sounds like a loose spring?

Yes, it is the "clunk". The kit is supposed to cure the problem.

Yes I have had these parts installed and they definetly eliminated the clunk situation on my coach. Several of the spacers were missing entirely. As best I can determine, these parts were missing since coach was new.

Call Workhorse Customer Service and ask about part number KIT2943. They should be able to tell you if it is appliable to your chassis.
Per the instructions the kit looks like it can be user-installed. It requires jacking up the front of the MH and removing the eye bolts that attach the springs. I haven't tried it yet.

Guys, Not everyone is going to be needing the kit so please have your unit evaluated by a service center first before it's determined that you need the kit.

I sent my email to cchristy@workhorse.com two days ago and received a call from Bob at WH this morning. He is sending the kit at no charge and said that if I was even moderately mechanically inclined I should be able to install it myself.
Now if I could only identify and eliminate my highway-speed vibration!

I think this is the same kit I had installed in Nov.
This is what I observed as the tech did the work:
I was missing the spacer (teflon insert) on the drivers side spring pack (front). Had it, along with the passenger side (front) replaced at the WH center in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Took the tech about 1 1/2 hr to do the job. He had ordered a kit from WH. These inserts are flat on one side and concave on the other. The tech used the following procedure:
-Raised front end of MH with leveling jacks
-supported axle with floor jack as front spring mounting bolts removed
-lowered front axle to remove inserts & round teflon washers, & then replace with new ones
-raised floor jack to install spring bolts.
Note: He tried to prevent the axle from moving rearward by blocking the front wheels, but this did not work. In order to get the bolts back in he attached a comealong from the front axle to an alignment stand and pulled the axle forward.
The kit included 4 inserts, 8 round self adhesive washers (thin) & 2 self adhesive teflon strips to be used as shims for the inserts if needed. One of my washers were missing, so he replaced all 4 on the front.
CAUTION Note: He used a large air powered floor jack to raise the frame on each side slightly in order to remove/replace the inserts. I did not think this was a problem, but two days out had a leak develope on one of the HWH hoses attached to the pump system. The leak was where the hose end fitting attached to the hose. This hose is really rigid & I think (but cannot prove) the fitting was compromised when the frame was raised on one side then the other. Just had it fixed here in Las Vegas, cost $175. Watch that they don't twist the coach frame.
No noise now.
