I'm guessing this is a question for Driver, but maybe someone else will know this. I have done a search on here and cant find what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know a VIN # breakdown of what each letter or digit means? I know the VIN is 17 digits long and I am trying to figure out which digit represents the year of the chassis. My Workhorse shows it listed as a 2003, but it also shows that it is a 2003 Fleetwood which is the year my coach was made. I'm wondering if the WH chassis itself is a 2002 or 2003.

I downloaded the 2009 chassis guide from the top of this forum. Anyway my book says the 10th character defines the year. If the number is a 2 it is a 2002 and if it is a 3 it is a 2003 etc. The info is on page 6 of the chassis guide. I hope this helps you.

After I down loaded the Chassis Guide, I brought the file to Office Depot and had them print it double sided and they spiral bound it and added hard rear covers and a heavy gauge transparernt front cover. In this configuration the guide is about 115 pages in length.

OK I scanned and put up the 2009 WCC Vehicle ID Numbering System.

The attachment is now seen on Page #6 in the "NEW" Chassis Guide whereas it was relegated to Page #7 status in the previous 2006 WGMHCG

In regard to the Model Year position, #10 YEAR; ... that character should be shown as an "A" in the VIN# scheme for Model year 2010. Letters in position 10 will be used for a number of years however I do not expect they will extend the scheme all the way out to Y again but they might.

The VIN# scheme was brought forward from GM.
