Just purcnased an australian built 2004 Winnebago Explorer 33,000 miles and my inital desire is to decode the Workhorse VIN as follows;-5B4LP57F443384178,to hopefully learn more about it and obtain a service manual to suit. Known details are as follows;6.5LV8 turbo diesel,WCCmodel#P300 32,208inch wheelbase,4speed column shift auto[think hydra-matic],all wheel disc brakes. was there any re-calls applicable to this VIN that I should check out???????? Unfortunately in this country to mention Workhorse Custom Chassis people think one wishes to harness a horse to do some plowing All help greatly appreciated. Barry Massey

Go to Workhorse.com and register your vin# under my workhorse and they can give you any info you need. You can also down load the chassis manual.

5B4 = Workhorse Incomplete Chassis
L = 16001 -19500 Hyd
P = Forward Control 4x2
5 = P32 "P" Motorhome Chassis
7 = Motorhome Chassis
F = Engine Type
Engine Option -L65
Disp(L) - 6.5T
Cylinders - 8
Fuel System - Diesel
Produced In - US
4 - Check Digit
4 - Model Year

3 - Plant
Union City
Production Sequence Number - 384178

Be aware that the Stanadyne PMD (Pump Mounted Driver) has a tendency to over heat and fail. GM and Stanadyne have know about this for years and failed to fix it. Most folks move the module via an extender cable and add some sort of heat sink/fan combo to keep it cool.

Barry, The vehicle is registered to a Quinlan in New Castle.

Please contact me via eMail (I will send that in a private mail) so that I can help you become listed as the owner of record.

There are no open campaigns or customer satisfaction bulletins for this vehicle.

BARRY: In addition to the excellent info provided by Dale, above, you should know that the records at WCC indicate the owner to be Barry Q....., so if that is not you, you will want to notify them and prove your ownership so you will receive any mailings they may send out in the future. Additionally, the model # is P32032 with a GVWR of 18,000 pounds, and a 4L80-E GM tranny, with a 4.63 rear end ratio.

The good news is there are no open campaigns for your chassis, and the front air bags were replaced under warranty at around 5,000 miles. The bad news is that it is equipped with the infamous J71 AAPB, and therefore I recommend you get in touch via email with the resident expert for self help on this system, Roger Haag. He can help you learn what spare parts you should have on hand, and teach you what you'll likely need to know regarding its repairs. Roger's NEW email address is oldusedbear11@charter.net and he can also be reached thru Dale's website at oldusedbear@oemys-performance.com

Enjoy your new coach and WELCOME to iRV2.com. We are here to help each other, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Ed

Dale/aka-Oemy The VIN decode was just what i was looking for. A previous 0wner of this unit has provided additional ducting for ambient air aimed at the PMD but will keep an eye on it Thanks for your help Barry

ed gray, Your info plus that from Dale I am sure will be most beneficial .The bad news re AAPB knows no borders and the previous owner advised that some sort of modification had been carried out, how good I am yet to discover . I feel it is only a matter of time before Roger Haag hears from Down under . He must be an expert on these as his name seems to always come up whenever someone has a AAPB problem to be solved. Thanks again ed, Barry

Go on-line and check it now. The change should be posted. I show the vehicle is registered to "Massey."

If you download the 2009 Motorhome Chassis Guide, that you see on the page, there is more in there than just gas chassis.

They used the same cover from the gas chassis guide because the new guide isn't quite as striking. (White page w/ a title)
