I have been watching this forum for months and have learned a lot. The one thing I haven't figured out is does anyone else have a W-18 chassis and what do you use as a toad?

blknomad: it would be a lot easier to tell what our members have if they would take the time to add some rig-specific info in the "signature" box in their profile. Hint, hint ED

Follow their lead all except, "Max49" You will see that you have close to a 4,000 tow rating. There are several vehicles less than 4K pounds like mine for instance.

We have a W18. We have not towed a toad yet. We have been to Yellowstone, Cascade Mountain, Washington, Oregon, Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Durango (Colorado), up and down California, Las Vegas, New Mexico. We used our MH to go around. As you can see in our signature, there are 6 of us. Having everything with us as we travel and vacation makes it convinient. In most cases, parking was available where we went. Where parking was tight, we just parked further and walked (exercised). We have weighed 4-corners and adjusted tire air-pressure to 80 front and 85 rear. Last month, Redlands Truck Service aligned the front end adding shims to have much better handling. It worked. No more wandering. Brakes work fine, no over-heating. Engine runs smoothly with the 4-speed hydramatic. At 60 mph, engine turns at about 2200 rpm. So far we have over 16k miles. We average around 8 mpg. We are enjoying our MHs.
Relax, drive safely, and enjoy God's creations.

DriVer
You are less than 4k when you and the stuff you carry isn't in it.
When I'm in it, it's closer to 5K

I have a 2010 Four Winds Hurricane with a W-18 chassis and the 8.1 Vortac engine. I pull a 5-speed 2003 Chevy Cavalier, what I consider to be a perfect tow car! I pull it four-wheels down, in neutral, with the ignition turned to the accessory position to unlock the steering wheel. I have Blue-Ox tow gear
with a Unified Tow Brake system. Both work well. Komac

Komac, I would not disagree with that and I do not believe that you could have matched a toad more perfectly to the capabilities on the W18 than you did.

I have a W18 2006 that I purchased new. I have put 47,000 miles on it. From the beginning I have toad a 2005 Toyota Rav 4 with a 5 speed stick shift. The Rav 4 weighs a little under 4,000 pounds. Blue OX tow bar. No problems towing, don't even know the car is back there.
