Recently purchased my 2nd MH - 07 Itasca Suncruiser 8.1 Vortec – W 24 Work Horse chassis.Initial shake down cruise 467 miles from Toledo to Gatlinburg. Straight down I 75 – moderate easterly wind. I was very disappointed in the handling of the coach – felt like I was driving my first coach (99 LaPalma) before I put Steer Safe stabilizers on it. It drove like a new coach – barely felt crosswinds or passing trucks. . (I'm very experienced in driving MH so I do know good from bad handling)

I was reading some articles in the forum about some of you wanting to add a rear sway bar to eliminate some of the rolling and swaying. My first MH was by Ford and they finally saw the light and made the front stabilizer a standard equipment item to their chassis. Guess my question or comment is - if there is a problem with handling on the W24 chassis why doesn't Work Horse make the engineering change and make it as standard equipment? I was tired after fighting the wheel all day!!

Seems awfully silly to spend extra money for something that should be addressed initially?

We also have a 2007 W24 with a Pace Arrow P38 mounted on top. This is our first MH, we come from a fiver and full time. I was questing some friends who just installed a steer safe, but he hasn't driven it yet. Have you had the front end aligned yet. My workhorse manual tells me to get the front aligned after I get the coach loaded for the road. I know I have quite a bit of play in my steering wheel.

No I didn't get aligned as it seems to no problem at this point. Like I said it's brand new - you should not have to have your coach re-aligned after it's loaded. My steering is very tight - not the problem.

Again IMO those issues should be accounted for by the factory. You can only load so much water and fuel, throw in 1600 pounds of "stuff" and you have a loaded condition - build around that. Do not make the owner pay for lack of engineering.

Sorry for venting but the buck has to stop somewhere and it must be the manufacturer (Winnebago or WorkHorse).

There should have been a hang tag, such as I'm showing below, on your shifter when you took delivery.

IMHO, if you had no hang tag see your dealer and tell him you want him to pay for the alignment because he removed the tag.

With all due respect or I must be an idiot but why would re-alignment be necessary??? Does it cure getting blown all over the road? To the best of my knowledge I did not see such a sign but then it comes down to my word against his.

I agree 100%. For the kind of $ we pay for these units, they should be good to go from day one when new and those factors you mentioned should be taken into account by the manuf.

My '06 Suncruiser 38J was all over the road compared to my old 2001 Suncruiser 35U W20. A rear track bar helped a bit, but I had it realigned at Forest City and that really did the trick. It seems that Workhorse had a fix to add a 3 degree shim to the 2 degree shim already between the I-beam and front springs to increase the caster settings.

I took mine to truck aligment shop rec by workhorse dealer and they found the toe in was off by 3/8 inch. they adjusted it and I drove a 2000 mile 2 week trip and it was a totally different motorhome.

Had my W-22 aligned at Redlands Truck and RV and it made a HUGE improvement. I can cruise at 60-65 on the highway with 1 finger on the steering wheel now, instead of rowing it back and forth.
